Red Gas...

we get diesel delivered for the tractors but a while back my dad noticed the diesel form the gas stations was red (drives a f350)

Not sure if they even do that in Canada...never buy the stuff...but I do know they put perfume in the Natural Gas so that you can smell it if it leaks...

I saw in another thread (gas prices in Canada) one guy was talking about purple gas that wasn't taxed. So I suppose they dye off road fuel in Canada,too.

I used to cut a guys grass and he ran a Kubota diesel and the fuel wasn't coloured...and he had a farm so he could have bought cheaper stuff I guess...maybe they do in some provinces...we're sorta like the States that way...each to his own...unless it's regulated by the Federal government...then it's overtaxed and over rated...oops...no political rants...lol!

only gasoline that I ever have known of at the pump that was red has been chevron with techroline(sp?)

but like you said, you pumped it and it was clear.....my thoughts would be rust,iron will make orangeish red color.

yea, that age truck should have a metal gas tank so my guess would be a little water was in with the gas at some point (pretty common thing) and the tank rusted up a bit and the rust is turning the gas red.

Well I did pump more out and it comes out of the tank clear....

I was reading the Haynes manual...truck starts but doesn't run (stops right away)...could be a vacuum leak, faulty wiring, or no gas/bad gas/faulty carb...

I think it's the wiring now...but I'm checking all the vac lines and making sure everyhing is connected properly...it hasn't ran in 4 years so maybe I haven't woke it up yet...

Most, if not all, Kerosene gets dyed red.
But I wouldn't think that could have somehow made it into his tank.

And they don't purchase dyed fuel because it's cheaper, they buy it because they purchase a lot of different types of it. This way, they know what they're putting in their tanks.

Again, not in Canada...or, at least, not in Ontario...I ran a kerosene heater all winter and the fuel was clear...expensive, but clear...

I think the red gas might have been rust in the tank...even though the tank is actually fairly new...only bought it four years ago and it sat empty for almost four years...probably condensation in it...hope the dang thing doesn't rot out before I get to actually drive the truck...

Oh, yeah...I did sort out the wiring and a few other things...but now I think it's the carb...the truck will run but I can't accelerate it without it stalling...been meaning to swap out the intake and carb anyway...just need to start working before I can do anything on it...

Sucks to not have a job...even though I really needed the time off...

Yeah, I know that feeling...was a time when I looked forward to the weekends and hated my job...now I look forward to hating another job...LOL!
