I read in a recent issue of 4Wheel and Off Road that Hobart had a prototype rechargeable mig welder at the 2007 Ultimate Adventure. They didn't have any specs on it cause it's a prototype, but I can think of a few things I could use it for. Anyone have any thoughts?

Cordless welder

Nope-that's a Century. I've got a Century Mig in the shop that works real well, so that one should be pretty decent too. The one I was writing about is a Hobart. It's mentioned in the December '07 issue of Petersen's 4Wheel & Off Road in the article about the "Ultimate Adventure" on page 42 pic/caption #2. I'm glad I found this site, now maybe I can get somewhere working on this truck that my daughter named "Baby"!! Thanks for the reply.

Isn't a "rechargeable welder" also known as a "lead-acid battery?" I guess that's a (very short) stick welder, not a MIG.

Welders draw quite a lot of power; it's hard to imagine a battery powered one that's good for more than a tack.
