receiver mounted winch?

i need to mount a winch on my reciever to pull stuff up on my trailer. it needs to be removeable so nobody steals it or gets screwed up by the weather. i was looking on the web and found this: but it is still a prototype they say is there somebody else makeing someting like this or any other ideas? http://www.barbarianindustries.com/index2.aspx?PageID=14

Most receiver mount winches I've seen are used with a receiver welded onto the trailer. The disadvantage is that you lose a foot of trailer space.

That would be pretty easy to weld up. I don't really like it though, just because I don't like the extension. Sometimes I put my skidsteer across the front of my trailer and I don't know how an extention like that loads up things when you have a lot of tongue weight--looks like a lot of extra leverage acting against the receiver. Also, when I winch things onto the trailer--like large metal things with their wheels off or logs, there's often a lot of pull on the line. I would rather not pull on a hitchball like that--which you would be doing if you used that contraption. That and the cable is running along side the trailer jack. When the line gets to one side of the drum it's going to push on that jack pretty hard. And it won't spool back up correctly. If all all you do is haul wheeled vehicles, then it looks good.

And I'm not backing my truck onto plastic ramps to load it.

yes that all i planning on doing is pulling up vehicles up on my trailer. i don't like mounting the winch on the trailer then it is exposed to the elements refucing it's life.

Do you have a tonney cover or a cap? Maybe you can mount it in your bed. Would be covered and "far from sight, far from mind" for any people with wandering fingers.

You can use your existing bed bolts to attach it.

You can open your tailgate when you need it, close it when done. And it won't interfere with your turning radius.

i do have a toneau cover but the winch will get in the way when i need to put crap in the back that was my first idea but it would have to be mounted in the middle of the bed so that it can pull stuff straight up the trailer.

I have a winch on a receiver mount and a step bumper type plate welded to the trailer. Just smear the nuts a little with the welder so they can't be removed and use a locking hitch pin. I don't keep mine on the trailer when it's parked--I pull it out and store it in the garage.
