yes steev, you can go to any dealer and have them run your vin to check for any recalls on your truck regardless of who owned it before you. I was the third owner on mine, it doesn't matter, its a safety recall.

Hey guys...I just picked up a 98 2.5 2wd auto ranger a couple of weeks ago. I'm the third or fourth owner. Any way I can tell if this recall has been done on my truck? Also, since I'm not the original owner, how does this work? Can I just go in to any Ford dealership and have the work done?? Thanks!

I bought a 93 F250 last year, who knows how many owners it's had, but I just got a letter the other day aout this recall, so I assume it goes through the registration somehow.

It may be a free recall but I'm not about to drive 240 miles to the nearest dealer, hoping, they have the new part in stock. I'll check for the brake fluid leak and install an in-line fuse myself.
