rebuilt my 4.0 OHV now for paint.

Isn't that a Ford Y block?

Yes, you are right. I went back to the website and actually read it and it is a Ford Y block. And here are some specs on it: .060" over 292, Y-292S cam, Blue Thunder intake, ATI damper, vintage Edelbrock valve covers in Ford blue. Built by Nathan Soukup for 55 Fairlane drag car.

It is a little past half way down the page.

I like the dark Ford blue, that is what I am going to paint my 289.
Black looks good until you are trying to track down a leak...
Yeah, I don't like how.. light blue.. ford blue is. And you make a good point about how finding oil would be hell on a black engine block.

I was thinkin Old Ford Blue block and oil pan, black valve covers and manifolds, and polished the upper intake. what yall think?
It's your engine, do it the way you want it. Personally, I think that sounds pretty good, although I'm more of a fan of navy blue when I do Ford colors. Your manifold is going to get so much hotter than the engine block, so make sure you use paint rated to the right heat specs.

White with black fender flares or Sonic Blue.
Um.
He's painting an engine.
No fender flares on there.

Red! if I remember right there's even a ford red. but definitely redwith flat black valve covers.

Lime green is bitchin.

That's pretty much what I painted my 5.0L.

Go for yellow, not a 4.0L, but it's little brother:

Lime Green? :bad:

I say ford blue or gray. Black valve covers

ford grey (factory color)

hey dorks thats a mopar!(and ugly blue)

I'd stick with the factory black, unless you're going for a show truck. I've never seen a colored engine that looked good after years of daily use. Unless you're going to be fastidious about cleaning it, I'd stick with something that won't show how dirty your engine bay is.
