Rebuilding the stock carb

I'm about to rebuild my stock carb and was wondering if anyone has any tips for me.

Dont bother. Replace it W/non feedback control 2150 or old2100 Then trash out the comp./emiss. by doing the dura spark conversion.

get a holly 350 cfm carb 0-7448 like this one.

They are fairly cheap, easy to rebulid and will do wonders to your engine with the dura-spark2 conversion.

I'm trying to leave it as stock as possible due to emissions testing. It has an overdrive transmission so according to Holley the 7448 won't work right.

Not much other than the usual keep it clean. Use chapstick on the gaskets so you can remove them easily later, if needed. The floats seem a little harder to align when putting the top back on. That's all I can think of for now.

If you are so inclined, National Carburetors will rebuild your carb for $185.00. I have a Nat. Carb. done on mine and it looks like brand new carb, the truck runs perfect and gets better mileage now then it ever has in the 19 years I've had it.

Just remembered....a National Carburetor has a lifetime warranty.....nice.

check all your gaskets when you install them i had one that didn't clear the tab on the float and it was hard to find the problem once i got it together and installed.

If you don't need to keep original equipment and just need to pass like smog tests you could always try the Fi Conversion, I bet that would get you way better emissions and precious mpgs.

But my advice would be to keep everything organized, clean everything out really well, (if you use carb cleaner, heavy duty gloves and eye protection, and a mask), and snap a few pics as you take it apart so you know if your missing anything, or can't remeber where something goes, and most kits probably come with a few extra parts, by no means are these "Bonus Parts" they must go somewhere (possibly on a different model carb) so double check, put all of the old parts next to their new counter part.

I just got it done. It really wasn't too bad. It took about 4 hours total. 2 hrs of that was scraping the old gasket off the spacer. You would not believe how much dirt was in there. The float bowl had a nice layer on the bottom. I think I might take the tank off and clean it out. Also the screen in the fliter was gone. I just bought this truck so I really have no idea of it's history but I hope it will be at least driveable now.

FI may be a future possibility. I have done it on 2 of my samurai's.
