Rearended, bent frame = totalled?

or, if they want to total it just go after the little old lady for the cost of repairs LOL, but to be honest, straightening a frame after its bent in that nature usually isnt cheap, buddy had to get his frame straightened on his bronco when he had a run in with a stump, cost 1800 to get the frame straightened

I'd say that is fixable. My truck had 140k miles on it when I got it (wrecked) and the frame was bent alot more than that. It pushed one frame rail backwards, and up (bent frame up slightly right. There was a 1" difference between the box/ cab on either side. It tweaked the truck!

It is AMAZING what a frame shop can do!!

It also looks like all of the damege to your frame is right there in the back. If nothing else, I'd just keep the money for the repair and drive it.. I'm sure if you had enough force, you could also put a reciever in the hitch and put alot of force up on it, and it MAY bend it back alittle. But that is just the cheap alternative.

dogboy, what did it run u to get ur frame straightened

It would surprise me if it is totalled. Probably a more easy fix than most since they can easily remove the bed and work from the top... If the airbags went off it would definately be a goner, but this doesn't look too bad.

Get the money fromt he insurance company. Get the frame pulled cheap and then use the rest to pay off your loan?

Well... My dad's friend owns a frame shop, so I got a pretty good deal. $350 or 400 for an afternoons work if I remember right. I don't knwo how much it would be just going to a shop though. Mine was pretty complicated to do though too and he also pulled the core support back into place and a few other things. I don't think that truck would take long at all. Looks like the rear of the frame just needs to be pushed back up. Thay'd sling a couple chains, hook up a hydrolic, and bend away and be done in no time. Or that is what i think anyway.

My truck even drives stright and everything. If mine does, then that one defentally should in my opnion.

I'd take it to the shop and pocket the rest. Since your bumper looks fine, tell the insurance company that you are going to need a new bumper and that it's 300 bucks for a new one or something, and just leave that one on there. Or make a bumper for 100 bucks.

Typical shop time on that truck (from looking at the pictures) would be 2.5 hours to setup and measure (clamp the truck down on the rack and measure with genesis laser measuring system) 2 hours to pull mash, 2 hours to pull sway, and 2 hours to pull for height. This of course all depends on how the frame measures out. At $60/hr for frame time, that would be about $510 just for the frame. If there are any major bends in the frame (not kinks) then there would be additional repair time for those.

I have never been rear ended nor is my frame bent.. :thefinger:

if the bed needs painting or you need new rear leaves or axle that could add up including frame time but it should be less than the value of the truck by a bit
