I was rotating wheels/tires this weekend and noticed that just above the mud flaps, on the bed, there's a nice black plastic inner fender liner. However, on the forward (cab side) of the wheel well, there is not one. I can see a nice sheet metal bracket that's spot welded to the bed that appears to be the support for an inner liner. Do these forward liners exist or are those brackets for something else? I would kind of like to limit the spray from the tires, especially in the winter.

TIA, Dave.

I think that's all you have. I'm unsure what you are trying to describe though.

To my knowledge, there are only the standard mud flaps rear of the tires at the bed.

I have plastic liners on the front, and nothing in the back.

This image (not my truck), shows what I have (liner panel and mud flap):

I'm looking for the liner (arrow) that goes on the opposite side of the wheel well (which is just out of the picture, to the right). Like this:

Here's a thread where it's discussed: LINK. It would seem as if Ford stopped installing them around 2003. They still sell the kit (~$45). I may call the dealer to check that out.

Here are a few more images of someone that made their own:

:icon_confused: That seems odd but does confirm that they do exist.

If you read thru the discussion thread I linked (above), you'll see that someone refers to that plastic sheeting as "puckboard". Puckboard is basically High Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE). You can source that stuff, pretty cheaply, at places like McMaster-Carr. I did a quick search there and found a 12" x12" x 1/8" sheet was less than $5. So, I'll use the ones I have (above the mud flaps) as a template for the ones I need. They're mirror images of each other (which also means that the one that fits on the rear passenger side of the bed would fit on the front driver's side of the bed, and vice-versa). I'll write up a How To when I get this done (in a few weeks or so - I want this done before Winter).
