I have a 2002 madza b3000 4wd when going up a hill on paved road the rear end feels like it jumps or slips a tooth what causes this

It wouldn't be the axle.
It would be either the automatic slipping, manual clutch slipping or engine missing

Possibly, I have an issue with my truck in one spot, going up a hill onto a bridge, when I hit the binder the traction change makes it feel like it skips or hops once because of the limited slip.

Does the truck have LSD or is it an open rear? Can you give us more information about the conditions and how it actually behaves?

It's auto dry paved road going up a hill down shifting I believe it doesn't do it all the time just every once in awhile door slip says its a 97 axle

AXLE 97 is 8.8", OPEN, 4.10

I would have the transmission serviced, fluid and filter, and see if issue goes away

Yup, I am with Ron on this one now. Service trans, if problem doesn't go away look into misfires.

Rear end

Thanks everyone I'll try to that ASAP trans has 140000 miles on it I brought with a 113000 I live in the smokie mountains and am planning on pulling a 20 foot pontoon about 3miles to the lake from our home a few hills but not bad
