Rear Seal Leak?

i was just under it today and i took the brass fitting out it was a 7/16 size bolt thingy and i took it out put pipe dope all over the threads and put it back on and tightened it up nice an snug and hassnt leaked since so i think that was the problem

the one on the passanger side of the oil pan? thats the oil level sensor.

be careful with the pipe dope on your sensors. most of these sensors are grounded through their threads and too much pipe dope will prevent them from grounding and trip all your idiot lights.

no its in the same spot the oil pressure sensor but i just took a little 7/16nut off that held the steel line and put some pipe dope on it and tightened it back up , its not on the side of the oil pan i kno thats the oil level sensor its up where the pic u posted is but its not the same style by what i could feel, what ever i took off and tighened stoped the leak so im happy with thta but i dont want the pipe dope to mess up the ground

ya so i had fixed that sensor and it stoped leaking for a day and then today it started again but im not sure if its from the same spot or not.

be careful with the pipe dope on your sensors. most of these sensors are grounded through their threads and too much pipe dope will prevent them from grounding and trip all your idiot lights.

I've done that before, Talk about frustrating!
I've also fixed other peoples by cleaning off the thread sealer and reinstalling.

does it matter any if i have an aftermarket oil press gauge on my truck? cuz i dont feel any special type bolt or anything its just a brass fittin on a flared steel line

depends on what you mean by "matter". should an aftermarket guage and fittings be leaking oil? no. COULD it be leaking? yes.

if the stock oil pressure "gauge" works, then either the stock oil pressure sender was re-used (a T fitting placed in the block), or it was grounded to "fool" the stock guage. it sounds like you need to inspect that hard line and the fitting at the block real well to determine where the leak is coming from. its possible that the whole line might need replacement.

I hate these kinds of oil leaks.

I'm going through one myslef right now, and later today I'll be pulling the engine parts necessary to determine exactly where it is.

ya i really hate these oil leaks

but ya the stock gauge doesnt work i think the guy took all the stock out and put a aftermarket one in, when i fell up from underneath i cant feel any T so. but i think some saturday im goin to take the vavle cover off put a new gasket on that just to make sure thenim really not sure what else it would be
