REAR AXLE take off

Hi all the other day slid in the rain whippin a u.smacked rear axle after spinning drivers side. snapped rear tire off alonng with axle.got rear cover off to see how to get axle out.it has big c clip on it and i cant figure out how to get it off.plus wheres the best placefor price to buy axle Thanks for any help.live in so cal Pete j

I have an axle shaft if you are interested in it. I will take $30 + shipping for it.

You have to remove the cross pin and brake parts before you can get the c-clip out. Once the cross pin is out, push the axle shaft inward and remove the c-clip with a magnet. Then the axle shaft will slide out.

Thanks for the info. sure was easy. but 2 gears fell out hope its not a problem puttin back in.If your sure the axle will fit my truck ill take it please find out postage to 91710.and again THANKS ALOT

The spider gears (the ones that fell out) will go back in, you just have to make sure to get them in the correct spot.

The shipping would be $25. The total would be $55 shipped.

Yea the spiders will go back in, it can be a bit of PITA if it is a limited slip unit.

you could also get a axle at the junk yard. around here axles go for 15-20 bux. just make sure you get one for your correct real axle ie. 7.5 or 8.8

93+ 7.5 and 8.8 will be the same shafts anyway. As long as its not out of an fx4 or an explorer which will be 31 spline.

Yea the 7.5 and 8.8 share the same axle shaft. 85-92 7.5 and 8.8 will be the same, and 93+ 7.5 and 8.8 will be the same. (the 93+ 7.5's and 8.8's are wider)
