Rear axle getting "HOT" on P.S.

New data, on way home from work "ABS" didn't know it had them there are no sensors anyways the ABS light flashes 16 times then pauses on then same over and over again...

The drum was hot as well as the axle flange, the axle tube wasn't hot at all..

Smells like Hot metal, now I am getting a brake smell but not as bad as brakes froze on like with a faulty caliper..

Not hearing a hum from the rearend

Tires rotate semi freely can hear a little rubbing on the passenger "hot" side when it get to s certain spot each time around.

Whats the bronze box with rubber brake hose, that the brake line goes into and my two rear lines come out of? Its bolted to the top of my axle, local parts store has no clue? Isn't it just a rear center brake line and would that affect anything?

That is just the fitting end of the hose. It just a Tee. The rear ABS sensor is in the diff

The 94 XL Reg cab doesn't have ABS though does it I don't see a ABS Modulator or sensors anywhere.

Look on the driver's side of the frame up near the bell housing and see if there isn't a RABS unit there. Google images for Ford Ranger RABS and you can see what the unit looks like. It is a piece of aluminum with a couple of coils on it.
