Really short bed ranger??


"absolute advantage off road"...? The magic off road wheelbase is widely accepted as 105-110". Regardless of vehicle make/model

If a person was motivated by having a wheelbase that would give them "an absolute advantage off road"
A person would be better off modifying a std. Cab ranger frame, rather than stretching a bii Frame 17", fabbing up towers to get the body mounts to line up, body lifting it to clear the bii fuel tank, and body working quarters that have a fuel door in the correct place


You could easiley stretch the wheel base to 100" from the stock 94"
 
Yep, but not easily to 105", let alone 110"

And certainly not by moving the front ttb forward. That's quite an undertaking too

And even if a person stretched a bii frames wheelbase. The shape of the frame means that the back 6 body mounts sit about 6" above the frame. So tall body mount towers would need to be fabricated.

The fuel doors are in different spots....all that work to stretch the wheelbase, and then even modify it to accept ranger parts, just to have at best a 100 "wheelbase

Or if a person was against pointlessly wasting time/money/effort

They could Get a ranger frame that is already 107", fuel tank/door in the right place, frame contours match the body mounting of ranger cab/bed.

To summarize:
I mean using as bronco ii frame to Get as close to the magic wheelbase, and putting ranger body parts on it, is a huge waste of time

This is why I own a shortbed standard cab Ranger. Its the perfect wheelbase.
 
Most guys seem to use ex cab rangers when they do this

A Supercab ranger won't work for this without cutting the wheel-arches
into the rear cab corners or about a foot of body lift.

If I was going to make an ultra-shortbox Supercab I'd use an Explorer frame not a Bronco2....

The frame on a Gen1 (1991-94) Explorer 4dr would already have a D35 up front and a 31-spline 8.8" out back... and the 4.0 would be literally Plug-And-Play with an '89-92 cab...
