That's the maximum that tire can be inflated to without being damaged. Unless you are running a full load all day long there is no need for that much pressure. You will get a smoother ride, better traction, and longer tire life running your pressure between 32-35 psi.

they are stock tires and will need to be replaced over the summer anyway, i dont do alot of off-roading, and i would rather get a little better mileage than worry about the ride.

i've noticed better handling with higher pressure, and no adverse effects with ride.

i have been running higher pressure on multiple vehicles for about 500,000 miles total, with no uneven wear or blowouts

Seriously, ANOTHER mpg thread? Blackwidow, you've been around here a long time, I would've thought you knew how to use the search button by now.

seriously. were asking a question. i hate when people give me a link and it goes to the seach page. each person has a different truck. different use. different applications and different issues. the seach button cant narrow down to what we need help with or are asking about. someone may call it a propeller shaft(old term) os driveshaft(new term) so cool it.

and i get 16 usual but have gotten 21 before and that was a mix of highway with city. also my tires are bigger so my fuel mileage calculations are wrong. so im guessing on average its closer to 18 not 16

Oh, so you are lazy. We get it.

There are only about 6,000,000,000,000,000,000 threads on the 4.0's MPG on here. It has been sufficiently covered.

Is there a road rage version for use at the gas station?

There are SEVERAL threads about gas mileage where people list which engine, gears, transmission, tires, etc they have. More than enough to draw conclusions and to find out what to expect for mileage. I've never owned a 4 cylinder or 3.0 Ranger, and even I know what kind of mileage they get just from reading all the mpg threads on this site. I really don't understand why so many people care about what other people are getting for mileage anyway.

I hate to get sidetracked here, but what kind of gas milage have you guys been getting on your 4.0's.:D

My explorer soch, auto, 4.1 gears average 16 mpg in backroad driving, my ranger gets the same

no im not lazy jack ass. but if i type in fuel mileage ill get every thread where someone typed in fuel or mileage so thats like 12000000000 threads as you would say. and who says that one question is gonna get answered somewhere else. each truck is different and has something different done to it.

and i agree it doesnt really matter. but when im talking about getting a link to the seach page its for advice on fixing something usually and not fuel mileage. what you get is waht you get. i guess an admin needs to sticky the tread and be done with it

2002 ford ranger 4.0l sohc 4x4 4 door with 4.10's and airbox mod. I get about 13 in city and 15 in highway.

last tank i got 17.6 which is about average....im driving like a grandma on this tank of gas (55-60) highway and nothing above 3k in town to see if i can break my 21.2 recored:D

With 31 bfg's in the winter I'm lucky to get 15 or 16

I get 18-20 MPH consistently and drive a pretty balanced mix of highway/city.
