Raptor F-150 video

ridgeline gets first in class cause no one races that class..

they got like 170th overall

and the raptor got 32nd over all

big difference there buddy!:icon_thumby:

We talking about this race?

I see the Raptor in the Class 8: Steve Olliges - Ford F-150 SVT Raptor - 25:28:10

I see the Ridgeline in the Stock Mini: 1. Gavin Skilton - Honda Ridgeline - 21:22:21 (29.54 mph average)

If this is the race, and I'm seeing it right, it looks like the Ridgeline edged the Raptor by maybe 4 hours or so. I don't really understand it though. I'm all for the Raptor and think it's great Ford is sponsoring them. And I'm glad to see all the Ford Rangers listed in there in 6, 7 and 7SX.

ok but the honda ridgeline has been out for several years and the raptor is brand new that says something about how well this truck is made

if that is the case then how did the ford get 32? :icon_confused:

but either way.. have u seen the ridgline? its no stock veichle where the raptor is

the ridgeline doesnt use any oem shocks or mounting locations and on it
the mcpherson struts are custom built by king shocks and it replaces all of the original suspension components

where the ford has bolt on coilovers using all stock mounts and suspension pieces.

the ford was also raced as a class 8 meaning it started up in the front of the pack and was passed by other viechles and the dust would have also been a factor where the ridgline was entered as a stock mini, meaning he was last off the line and had clean air.

The Ridgeline and it's clean air does use most of it's stock suspension components, and I have looked at the rules and also at the page of them building it. That article is a good read even though it's not a Ford. It seems to me the Raptor was built from the factory for this while (Born in Baja, right) the Ridgeline was not.

I don't see the problem with liking both trucks.

Edit: and one more thing. The Raptor might be new, but how many of the parts on it aren't 10 or 20 year-old proven designs? The Ridgeline is on the Pilot Platform that was only 2 years old when Honda started racing it. That's why reading the article I posted is good. Even the experienced driver didn't trust it at first.

Edit II: looking more into the Raptor, it's got the same types of mods the Ridgeline does.

The pictures of the Raptor concept I have seen before were with the 2004-2008 style trucks. They had almost nothing in common with the 97-03 trucks which had almost nothing in common with all the trucks that came before them. The 09-10's are based heavily on the 2004 design but is quite a bit different yet.

The engines, transmissions and rear axles are based off of older designs... but the engines and transmissions have changed ALOT over the years. They play with the width's, wheel bolt patterns and brakes on the 8.8's and 9.75's over the years, but that is about it.

were u at the 1000 and checked both the trucks out?
thoses pics in the honda ridgline artilce are not the final product and the article is very deciptive in that fact. The ridgeline has custom built machpershon struts in the front relacing the stock spindle/hub and the majority of the front suspension. the front suspension mounts have been completely reincored and plated over and attached into the tube chassis that takes all the stress loads making the unibody do nothing.
the rear suspension has the coils replaced and coilovers installed attaching into the tube chassis and the suspension components and pivots reinfoced and plated.

the f150 uses all stock pivot points and they have not been reinforced the roll cage is just in there to make it race legal(not turn it into a tube chassis like the ridgline does). the entire front and rear suspension (-shocks) are as they come from the factory.

they are in no way modified the same amount, i have checked the ridgline out at almost every race since it came out and have looked at what has been done to it.

if you want to do a real test on it.. go rent a stock honda ridgline and ill rent a raptor and we will see which one falls apart on us on the trail.

I'm willing to entirely take your point if you could link me a picture or something of the trucks as they are now. I mean, where would I be if I had taken your statement that the Raptor was 32nd and the Ridgeline was 170th and started bashing the Honda enthusiasts with it? They would have given me an e-wedgie.

I'm sure the Raptor in future years will obliterate the Ridgeline. It's got 150 more hp and such. But the fact is, most of the stock VW beetles beat it and Ford has a huge frightning website like it's going to crack the planet in half with its greatness.

Well i'm not going to join in on the argument. The first production Raptor is SOLD! for $130.000+ at Barrett-Jackson auction. (via: may '09 Four Wheel mag.)

i dont have any pics of it but i can get some at the baja 500..

i dont know exactly what place the honda came in just know it was behind us and we got 113th overall that why i said like 170th..

so i have no idea how ford is claiming 32nd.. if there time was slower then the ridgeline, but i do know that the moving speeds on the ford was much faster then the honda, i did talk with the driver of the raptor at the bfg pit in borego (halfway point in the 1000) and they had said they had had hours worth of down time fixing a stupid problem they had early on. So it will be interesting to see if they do end up racing it again at the 500 and seeing what it will do now that they have had some real test time on the truck.

i saw in a magaizine it said it took 32nd overall i might have read it wrong my only point was that this was praticaly a new truck and almost a first test drive and it did that well whereas the ridgeline has been out for a long time now and they have had plenty of tests

I'm supposed to be proud of Ford because they made a truck that finished 32nd in some Baja race?

Sorry, I won't be proud of Ford for making the worlds ugliest pickup truck. It's even uglier then the Lincoln LT (large turd).

this truck looks sick it looks way better than all the other plastic cars and trucks out lik the avalanche which looks like sh** and the new ranger better look nicer than the prototypes ive seen

and how many times do i have to say it THE BAJA WAS LIKE A PRACTICE RUN first time the ever tested it so yeah be proud the next baja they do it will be close to first

i think it might have been 32nd overall 4 wheel vehicle.. not 32nd overall (including motorcycles and atvs)

that makes more sense on what was confusing me so much.
