Is it just me or do these trucks seem to depreciate fast?
My truck is only 3 years old and worth less than half of new.

No, that's about normal for most vehicles.

Tack on a couple grand to whatever value you got for it if you were to buy it from a dealer right now, and understand that if you traded it in you would get a couple thousand less than that.

Vehicle "value" is how dealers make money, because people are stupid and give their cars away at trade in time for far less than they are actually worth.

Buy a few years used, then.

First Ranger was 4 years, and this Ranger is 13 years! I couldn't be more happier with both...

I bought my 96 Ranger for $4500 back in April 2003. Now my Ranger's worth about $4000. My mom's 96 4x4 Blazer is worth just a few hundereds more and it is fully loaded. So really, a moderate loaded Ranger (4x2, 5spd) is worth more than a 4x4 Blazer. :icon_bounceblue:

Buy new and drive it off the lot and you already lost 3 grand. Sometimes it is best to buy a 1 year old and let somebody else eat the first cost. I had several people who know me ask if they could by my 99 Ranger. I have been offered $5600 for it so far...but I tell everybody who asked about it that my truck is not for sale. It runs great and looks really great. It is a very clean truck. I bought it brand new July 99 and I just turned 73,000 miles on it last week.

Welcome to the world of capitolism. Where inflation and greed screw you on a regular basis. Sell it outright, never trade it. Unless its private trade and your holding all the carsds.

Mid-year rangers seem to hold their value REALLY well depending upon options

My 00 (Super cab, 4.0, 4X4, Off-road pckg) KBB is $5700-$5900 with 152K on the clock. A 2006 'fleet' ranger (4cyl auto) can be had for $4-5K

What do you mean by mid-year Rangers? :icon_confused:

Oddly enough, I looked up the book value for my '96 and it has gone UP on both KBB and NADA since I bought it in February...and it has over 200k on it now too. Weird.
