Ranger Sheet Metal, gauge?

what gauge sheet metal does ford commonly use, or more specifically on ranger body panels sheet metal like a bedside what gauge is the metal?

Just offhand, I would say the outer skin is probably something like 24 guage, rear posts, crossmembers, and sill are probably 16 guage, and the floor maybe 20-22 guage.

why are you asking? any sheetmetal will do fine as long as you aren't using thinner stuff than stock on structural repairs. if you are looking for something "sturdy" on the skin then jus get a 18 guage... can't really go too wrong there.



edit: you can always mic it when you cut to clean sheetmetal....

forgot about this....

if one gauge is thicker than the one you are repairing (or vise versa) then the thinner metal will burn through..... and or you won't get a good weld.

it's best to guage it when you cut out the old stuff then either buy the right guage or whatever.

most repros get the guage within tolerance, though I wouldn't say it's factory as has been mentioned earlier.

loanranger is about right. Outer sheet metal should be 22 gauge.
