Ranger or Explorer?

Do both.......

Use the explorer as is for now, and get your Ranger back up(even if its slowly). Then build up the Ex, and have two to go wheeling in...........

I agree :D

Well this thread is pretty dead, but since it's mine I'm gonna revive it.

I'm now leaning toward (as in almost ready to buy) an Explorer. On Wednesday I went and hopped on my bike to ride home to Seattle for the weekend and found a note from a guy offering to buy it for around $2,200. Since I paid $1500 in July I don't think i can pass on it. Ideally he'll buy it this week so I can pick up an Ex next weekend and put all my crap in it and still have a way to get back to Seattle for winter break next week.

I've found a bunch on CL for $1000 or less, and I may go look at one with 109k for $800. I'd rather swap a lift and axles any day than an engine and tranny, plus I'd still have to deal with all the wiring. I'm also looking to do a clean build and my truck is kinda beat/half-assed. This will be my new DD for the foreseeable future, or at least until it warms up and I buy another bike. Plus my friends and I are getting tired of dividing the back seat time in our friend's 4Runner between the three of us that are 6' plus and I see a lot of snowboarding in store this winter.

I would just keep your ranger.

You know the history of it better, and you love it.

Figured better to comment here then start a new thread of bull. I wish I could get a totaled explorer for 500. Instead salvage yards rip every piece out nowadays and go to eBay to make money on all parts. I should have bought that v8 explorer 1999 w/ 154kmiles. Now I'm buying a 5.0 mountaineer engine with 94k for 400 bucks. Now I need everything with engine so it's gonna cost more but w.e. I'm just gonna get a new wiring harness and cleanup engine.
