Hi guys I have a 93 ranger 4x4 4.0 Manual Trans. For some time it has been making lurching movements when I come to a complete stop and then put it in gear and start letting the clutch out. The problem is intermitent, but more often then not. It lurches right as soon as i start letting the clutch out and it catches. I thought that it might be something to do with the clutch so I replaced the clutch, master cyl, slave cyl, and had a remanufactured trans put in at 60,000 ( now has (99,000). I think it is the transfer case or u joints making it sloppy, but what do you think? Thanks for your help!!!

you can rule out your u-joints with a simple test. park on level ground , block wheels turn OFF truck put in gear crawl under truck check driveline for movement then check with truck in nuetral, although if it was your u-joint they would make clunking noise and you might have some VIBRATION at road speed , i would have your transfer case inspected

Check the slip-spline on the rear driveshaft. If there's not enough grease on it, it can cause a "stick-slip", making it lurch similar to what you describe.
