So as inspired by mn_smokeater's post on Doorgunner's '36 Ranger build thread...

This is the "Ranger don't" thread

Now between all of us I bet we can come up with tons of things that are a bad idea to do with a ranger...mostly because we've done them all. Then there's other ones you just shouldn't do, like letting the wife drive.

So lets hear it, what's your "Ranger don't"

hit a 1 lane, hump back bridge at 45 MPH, coming out of a curve. You WILL get airborne, and you WILL get sideways.

a few of my been there oh shit moments in the Ranger
1.dont follow a truck on 44s down a mud trail if your Ranger is on 33s.. it dont work when his ruts are enough to high center ya.
2. dont leave your windows down in a thunderstorm 6 inches of water in the floor is hard to clean up
3. dont back into a shallow pond showing off to a girl and think you can drive back out..mud tires dont work sometimes
4. never forget a tow strap... you always get stuck when you do

in a 91 reg cab short box 2wd with a sliding rear window with the aluminum folding mirrors .......... do not throw a cigarette out the driver's window at 35 mph with both windows down and the slider open........ it will come back in the cab through the slider.

this has only ever happened to me with the reg cab short box 2wd with those mirrors...... not in any other config.

Dont try to powerslide your ranger at 45 because it will get on two wheels and skip like a rock on water

Riding in a 79 Luv a while back I tried to toss an empty soda can through the open slider, and it ended up in my lap. :icon_confused: Made me laugh so I had to do it few more times...

OK, hijack over.

Don't try it from a stop in an Explorer with a 5" lift, stock BS wheels and 31s with all seats full. It will pick a tire and scare all other occupants.

must only apply to a lifted truck. I did that in my 91 2wd all the time ...... get going about 45 and e-brake it spin it about 210 degrees and smoke the tires going the other way.......... infact ..... that was the pick up I learned how to do that in.

also extremely possible to powerslide at 30 MPH.

Dont try to kill it. you wont be able to.(when you want it to live.....thats when it will die)
Dont leave the bare wires touching the floor......leads to wiring the fuel system
Dont let it sit too long. mice like seatbelts

don't take it easy on her, they are always happiest when being beaten around a bit.

don't try to drift down narrow a closed road in the winter on bald tires and 2wd you will end up droping 5 feet into a ditch. weird thing is there was a foot of snow in the ditch and i drove it out.

Don't go bombing through snow drifts in the road. They aren't always completely snow.

Don't put a self drilling screw through your wiring harness and spent the next four hours trying to figure out why it won't stay running.

don't hack up your grill thinkin that the latch was stuck when you were really pulling the the ****in break release the whole time

Don't try to cover the convertible mustang behind you with black smoke and get pulled over by the state trooper for laying down a smokescreen :annoyed:(because the trucks running rich)
