So I was at the junkyard today looking for the hub nuts for my 1994 4x4 Ranger. I have a true D35 front w/ 3.73 gears. I was hoping to upgrade to 4.10 ($150 for front diff at local u pull it junkyard) for a little more mmph from my 3.0L. I found a 1994 Ranger with what I needed but I forgot to look under the differential to see if it was ribbed or smooth. I do remember that the axle sticker on the lower right had the number AP 28 (axle code in door was F7). When I looked at my axle sticker it says AP 35. So I'm assuming this means that its a hybrid Dana 35 w/ 28 guts. It was a 4.10 ratio w/ limited slip 4.10 rear. If it is the hybrid I'll keep looking and grab the rear carrier w/ gears ($100 at yard). I was just hoping someone knew before making the drive back out to the junkyard to verify. Thanks.
P.S. Do you think I'd notice a difference in switching only from 3.73 to 4.10? Its a 3.0L 5spd 4x4, 4" suspension lift, 31" BFG A/T.
