Ranger 2.3l swap

I'm sure this has already been answered somewhere, but i did a search and i could find TONS of 2.5/2.9/4.0 etc engine swaps but not a 2.3.

I have a 91 Ranger with a blown 2.3l engine in it and somebody close by is sellin the 2.3l from a 94 Ranger. What is needed to do the swap? is it bolt in...do i need the ecu from a 94 etc. thanks

If I were you i'd try to find an older one. in 94 it has an egr system, whereas i don't think yours does, so yes you would need the computer out of the 94.

you can use the '94 engine perfectly, the block and head are identical. Just use everything off of your engine and swap in the block and head from the '94. Use all the electronics and intake from your truck, if the '94 has the factory header and yours doesn't go ahead and swap it in with the engine, it is better than the factory manifold.

I've done a lot of research is all hehehe. Now if he had said a '95 then I would've told him to find something else. But the 89-94 are almost identical engine bays. I actually need to find a block to rebuild over the winter for my truck.

yea i was looking for something a lil closer to 89-92 but this was really the only one i could find. winter is quickly approaching and im pretty sure my honda isnt gonna make it... so i need to get the ranger runnin again!!!
