Is it possible to take the spanner nut and lock key thingy for an automatic hub and put it on a spindle with a manual lock out hub on it? Obviously there would not be the auto hub locking assembly in it. I ask because it is kind of a pain in the rear with the manual hub's 2 spanner nuts and lock ring.

There's not enough clearance in the manual hub for the auto nut.

Do have the correct 4-prong socket for your spindle nuts? If not, then getting one will most likely eliminate the pain in your rear... :)

As said, a manual hub does not fit over the auto hub nut.

That special socket can also be had at Napa for about $25.

Yupp, I have the socket. But it seems as if the outer nut is too small for the socket, and the inner is too big. I make it work, but its a pain. and my lock rings moved a little with the outer being torqued, but not very much and my grease isn't burning and my hubs get a little warm, but they both get to the same temperature. I have 2 sockets, 1 for manual and 1 for auto haha. Needed the other one for when I went to the 'yard for my spindles :icon_rofl: That kinda sad know you cant do that; the auto hub spanner nut lock pin thingy has a bigger surface area so it's less likely to chew into the spindle like happened with my old hubs.
