So, this is my first post here. I've used the forums to solve all of my other problems, I just cannot find a solution to this issue.

I've got a 1991 Ranger. When I turn the key to run, the RABS light turns on like it should and when the abs hydraulic unit clicks (not sure if it's supposed to click?), the RABS light just gets a little dimmer. It doesn't go out like it should, but it doesn't go back to full brightness either. Almost like it has a short somewhere.

Doesn't throw a code for anything until I unplug the hydraulic unit. At which point I get code 4 (ABS light with brake light on). But the abs light goes out completely when ignition is turned to run, and comes back on after about two seconds. With the brake light, of course.

Brake fluid is topped off and the connector there looks fine.

Kinda stumped on this.

Pop the connector for the brake fluid sensor off and see what happens. You may have a bad sensor.

I pulled the brake fluid connector off and still have the same issue with the light not going completely out. Still acts like its got a short or something.

With the brake fluid connector off, the ABS light came on, went dim, then came back to full brightness and gave me the code for brake fluid sensor.

Like I said earlier, the only thing that I've tried that makes the light go completely out, is disconnecting the hydraulic unit. With axle sensor disconnected the light acts the same and gives me the code for axle sensor too.
