Quick question about fog light switch

I just did a conversion on my truck to have fog lights. Does the factory fog light switch have illumination with the park lights, or am I nuts? I swear my 98 Mounty had the fog switch illuminated. The one I put in my Ranger only has an LED the comes on when I have them on.

I know my pickup is 6 years newer, however, my fog light switch does not illuminate when the fog lights are off, when they're on, there is just that small green light that comes on.

That's what I was thinking. I sear my Mountaineer's did, as well as the defrost button. I pulled the fog switch out of a 95-97 Explorer, so I wonder if it's burnt out or if not all of them are illuminated? Did you buy your truck new 02RangerXLT? Maybe yours is burnt out too?

I just looked up the switches and the one for a 96 Explorer has a different model number than the 98 Explorer. The 96 Explorer shows SW3907 and the 98 shows SW1986 on the Autozone website. I wonder if the difference is illumination?

Strange. I wonder what made some get it and some not. And how to tell which ones do and don't have it. I'm going to have to go junk yard hopping again. =)

Did you buy your truck new 02RangerXLT? Maybe yours is burnt out too?

Nope, bought it used, so if it has one, it very well could be burned out... but to my recollection, the picture of the "fog light" on it is just painted on, its not some sort of transparent plastic, but I'm not sure.

I need to go find one. I'm betting it will be easy to spot if it's painted or illuminated.

Out of curiosity I just went though all of our Ranger wiring diagrams and all the foglight switches through 2006 show an illumination bulb connected to the dash lights. Starting in 2007 the fog light switch is part of the headlight switch. If yours doesn't illuminate it's probably got a bad bulb.

I'll have to take it out and see if there's a bulb in it. Thanks for checking that out!
