My '97 2wd Ranger has 15" chrome steel wheels on it. This is how it was equipped from the factory. The stock center caps are being held in place with stock lug nuts.

I have two questions;

1) I want to put 15" aluminum rims from a Ranger (the swirly rims) on my truck. From what I can tell I can re-use the same lug nuts that are on the truck now (holding the steel wheels on) and it will work with the correct center caps for these aluminum rims, correct?

2) I want to put 16" aluminum rims from an Explorer (the swirly rims) on my truck. From what I can tell I can re-use the same lug nuts that are on the truck now (holding the steel wheels on) and it will work with the correct center caps for these aluminum rims, correct?

I'd like to be sure before I go through the effort swapping wheels while freezing my balls off. :icon_surprised: Verification of the above is greatly appreciated.

I believe so, I think most tapered lug nuts, like the ones the Ranger's use have a 60º Taper to them. As for the center caps fitting, they should, as long as your lug nuts are the regular open ended nuts with about an 1/8" thick shoulder at the bottom of the hex. That shoulder is what the center caps for the aluminum rims use to clip onto. So, as long as you have that style lug nut, you should be all set.
