I've tried a search on the forums and it's kind of hard to find my problem, at least for me, so sorry if i'm re-asking a question. So here's my problem. I'm driving down the road and i push in the clutch and put her in neutral and the rpm's suddenly jump to 2000+. it continues to stay this high until it desides to stop. haha, which is usually after a minute or two. It doesn't sound like a major problem, but i was wondering if there is something in particular that could be causing this.

i would go over all your vacuum lines to start with. if its got the hard plastic type ones they break very easily,

I'd start with vacuum like the others are saying, but also check your idle screw. If your idle is set too high, it may do that. Had that happen with my '93. I guess something happened where the screw turned just a fraction and threw everything out.

Are you making sure you release the gas pedal when you press in the clutch? Somebody had to ask it.

I had that exact same problem - 'twas a sticky throttle cable. If it revs up when you push in the clutch, hook your toe under the gas pedal and lift up. If the rpm's go down, there you are. I was able to spray some WD-40 down the cable from the engine end and haven't had any issues since. Better bicycle shops and most motorcycle shops have a tool that is a cable oiler. You clamp it around one end of a cable where it comes out of the wound housing and you can insert a standard spray tube from just about anything like WD-40 into it and completely oil the cable.

thanks for the replies! i have yet to have the chance to check the vacuum lines but i will when i get the time. schools just overwhelming right now. Yes haha i do lift up on the gas pedal lol, but i tried lifting up on the pedal from the bottom but that did not seem to work but i will try again, i really think its a vacuum leak because when i'm in neutral sometimes when its just idling it will dip below 1000rpms and bob up and down but i don't know, i will investigate as soon as i get the chance! thanks!

If it's a vacuum leak won't the rpm's stay high all the time?

ya that's what i was thinking, i think the bobbing in rpms when idling has to do with my fuel injectors, i have a feeling they need to be cleaned
