Question: Welded Stacked Blocks

I have stacked blocks on my truck...yeah i know its frowned upon ha and not to safe BUT the truck was bought that way and I planned on doing the leaf swap from a chevy 1/2 ton

BUT


would welding together my blocks be a little bit safer until im able to do the leaf swap?

My thought would be...
if you first welded the blocks together, then plated them on the outside, and welded the plate up, they would be fine.

They would probably be sturdier that any blocks you would get with a kit.
But, l may be wrong...

I got my 63's for 60 bucks from the junk yard and I spent maybe another 30 dollars in hardware and new bushings. Just do the swap, you know you want to.

Blocks are most likely cast iron....don't wanna try welding that . It is very difficult(If you've never done it before), and you need to use a nickel elctrode.

and even after you weld them, you still have a very tall block which puts unnecissary stress on your u-bolts....not to mention it wont help your axle wrap any.

blocks bad period. blocks down right dangerous stacked, can't even imagine what they would be like welded and stacked. just do the swap, those spring are common, you may even have a buddy with a lifted chevy that still has his original springs laying around.

last thing...i have 38.5" tires -- 8" skyjacker suspension -- 3" body


I plan on going down to either 33" or 35" tires and wanted to go to 6" suspension with the 3" body, i understand that i cant buy the springs online, used or something but what to do about the rear?

get the chevy springs and Beltech drop shackles. that will give you 6" suspesion in the back.
