Question on a 1992 ranger?

Will the trans from a 1987 2.3 5-speed ranger work in a 1992 2.3 5-speed ranger? I looked in the tech Library and did not see a crossover list.

if the length is the same then yes. i dont beleive the bolt pattern was changed on the block so it should mate up. the only thing you may have to worry about is if the length is differnt

look to see if the donor has an integral trans and bellhousing, if it looks like it unbolts then they aren't the same tranny, it was either '87 or '88 when they switched to the M5OD transmission

Thanks for your help I think that if this truck pan out I am just going to small block it.
