somebody on here (i forget who or where) was discussing a 2.3 and 5.0 having the same bellhousing pattern and stuff, and they posted the link to wikipedia w/ matching bellhousing patterns. i stumbled across the 3.0 just to look cuz i own one. it showed that the 3.0, 3.8 and 4.2 engines have matching bellhousing patterns, has anybody out there tried swapping in a 3.8 or 4.2 into a 3.0 ranger b4? a friend of mine has a 4.2 in his f150 and its pretty sweet, and i kno 3.8s are very common in mustangs. im still going to build up my 3.0, but i just wanted to ask since i noticed it.

The front wheel drive Essex V6's have the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the 3.0L. The rear wheel drive 3.8L's have the Windsor V8 bolt pattern if I remember right. I am not sure about the later 4.2L's found in the F150's from '97 on though.

+1 to what he said the front drive 3.8 is totally different from the rear drive and i am not sure but i think they kept the pattern on the 3.8 and 4.2

according to wikipedia the rwd 3.8 and 4.2 are the same as the 3.0, thats why i asked.
