project red ranger

There's a Ranger by me that's a Gen-1 extended cab and looks like it's on 5-ton axles. It's huge. It's been sitting for sale in some guys yard. It's soooo tempting. But my trailer probably wouldn't haul it.

Take some pictures. I'd love to see it!!!

I got some rims, they need work.

They're 26"s I spent the better part of the day workin on 1 rim and cuttin the center out of the wheel you see behind it. I have to center everything up and burn it in. I wish I could just call up 4wheel parts and be like "Hello, I would like to order a set of 26x20 steel wheels with 10x8.5 bolt pattern."

Too much :icon_welder: Finally goin to bed.

So that was the good news...

BAD NEWS!
When you mount up one of these gigantic bastard tires, how do you go about seating the bead?

EITHER.

We had the tire standing up proped against a car-lift. I sprayed some either in the tire and lit it. You could see that the flame was pushing the bead to try and seat it but it didnt completely go. So I tried it again. Again, it wooshed and the bead almost seat but didn't. We then took the tire and put it underneth the lift and set the lift down on the top of the tire. We were trying for the same effect as a ratchet strap. The bead was considerably closer to the seat on the wheel. I sprayed and lit and BOOM! It seated with enough force to shake parts off the block wall and dust came from everywhere! No one was hurt we were both wearing face shields, glasses and gloves. The only casualties were the tire and some armhair

Let me make this perfectly clear, this is a VERY DANGEROUS way of doing it but it works and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, it looks like this...

wow, dont you have a tire changer for that size tires? :D

Hope this lights some fire under ur ass POST SOME NEW ONES j/k hows the build going

It's going very slowly. I'm also trying to work on two other projects that are going along at about the same pace. Hopefully I'll get some wiring and interior stuff done so atleast I can fire it up. I did get some driveshafts and various u-joints and yokes. Parts are not the problem, It's all about time...

how about the female end of the short shaft in between the two back rears I got the rest when I bought a rear the guy was supposed to let me know when he pulled the rest and wont answer my call now I can probably use whatever you have if your looking to get rid of it
