Project: Mall Man

i can honestly ive never done that lol sucks that she got a lil toasty

found an 84 ranger on the net..4cyl standard 4x4 she hasnt been started in a year but worked when put up..gonna head out and take a look next week sometime

took the filter{?} off the fuel rail and stuck the air compressor up thru the bottom hole that goes into the rail and it was plugged off really bad and the hoses were bad so im guessing it plugged up and spit out through the hoses so ill peice her back together after i get some new hose and hopefully it will work again

screw the ranger i want to stick with the b2 andget her jacked up hopefully my bad luck will end soon.
and today i got her back together a took the seal from the filter where it goes into the fuel rail and new hose off the old bronco and she dont leak but she will just turn over and over and over

and i am doing everything myself so i need a little help from you guys and BII.org so what do you think is happening here? would it be the wirring harness burnt up from the fire even though all power works?
thanks

sorry for the repeated posting but just an update i turned her over again while dad stuck a screwdriver in the plug wire and she has no spark at all so is it possible that something may have melted in the distributor cap? please help me people im begging for answers

its TFI, and it runs through the harness that you burnt, which if i where you, any place that melted i would remove the covering and inspect the wiring, but it could be the TFI on the side of the dizzy,

but buy looking at the pics, i would spend the $30-$40 on a junkyard harness from another bronco II from 89

i would grab the harness from the ECU to engine compartment, and the engine harness, and a new ground strap from the engine to the windshield wiper motor

which btw with the said harness you burnt, i completely pulled that out and everything including the starter would work for my v8 swap, i just got a rubber plug where the ECU use to be, the power windows, radio, etc all work,

if it was me i would just get a whole new engine harness and replace it keep you from hunting electrical gremlins for the rest of your life

I would also bet that it's the wiring for the TFI module. If you don't want to replace the harness, pull the tape off of it and find the bare wires, and tape them up real good. Then tape around the whole bundle again. I put a screw through my harness and had to do the same thing.

thanks alot guys i will check it out i really appreciate the help

Are you postively getting fuel into the cylinders, and do you have the correct pressure at the fuel rail? If the PCM is not getting power, you will not have spark or fuel. There is a lot to go wrong in a situation like that electronically.

Also check for power at the coil and make sure none of the grounds got wrecked if you've verified that the computer is coming on and working. This is probably where I'd start first if I were to take a chance and try to run it 'as is'. I am confused on what actually started it (the fire), but absolutely make sure it's not going to happen again.

I say this all of the time, but it seems to have no bearing; you will be completely lost without a vehicle specific wiring diagram. It's going to be a real pain in the ass to diagnose an electrical problem in a somewhat complex system without a guide as to what is what. You might find what you need at a library, FWIW Hayes/Chiltons auto repair manuals as far as wiring suck really really bad. My EVTM from Helm Inc. is really really awesome in comparison.
