Project: 25 Is A Prayer

Yes, there are great risks in riding bikes.

For one, STUPID KILLS.

For two, why not enjoy all life has to offer? I've said this before, but I know there there is a big difference between having fun and being a reckless fuctard. I'd rather enjoy my day and seize that carp (carpedium or how ever it's spelled) then be afraid of living.

I'm 18, I know i'm not invincible, but I'm not a pussy.

answer your phone ya damn ho bag,and why the hell was your truck at pump and save last night til 11:00?

I met up with Mallory there last night and left my truck. I have no gas, grass, or cash, so she treated me out last night.

The sex was fantastic.

WHYYYYYYYY?

Anyway, diggin' the bike. Gonna keep the origional paint setup or something new?

I'm doing the best I can to keep the original parts, to an extent.

This is more of a restoration then a build. Due to the age it's pretty damn hard to find parts for the 360. I might put a late 80s 400 in. More accessible parts etc.

The rev problem is your air screw. jetting is off, that is all. Trust me... i do a lot of 2 stroke carb jetting.. Also spray all the rubber intake lines on the bike. (rubber from the carb to the intake) with carb clean and look for leaks, this can also cause this problem. Check this "about 3 posts down) will give u a walk through on getting jetting perfect

Thanks HondaFreak08.

I'll **** with it tomorrow.

The kick start is stripped, so I have to find a big ass hill to push it up each time and dump the clutch. Needless to say, that's a pain in the ass.

Eww nasty wipout video...... But thats a Sweet bike. Classic cool. Ive got some xr50's that I play on. They both have big bar/pegs and the green one has a 88cc big bore kit, long travel inverted forks, i-shock , two bros exhaust and bbr skidplate. It does about 50mph on the street. I took it out for a ride last night even though the rear wheel felt a little loose... After a few miles and wheelies the wheel started hopping real bad. Well I got it home and about half of the spokes in the rear wheel were busted.(must of been the jumping I did with it last weekend) So I guess its time for some heavy duty spokes. Stock these things are built for a 75lb rider. But with a few after market parts any adult can cruise one. Its a little smaller bike than I really want but works great at the BMX trails or just bombing the neighborhood.

P.S. Lets go riding/wheeling sometime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Psssh adam 25 is a prayer if you ride a good bike that runs well,on this piece of shit mobile you'll live til your 94.

Along with my other projects I have decided to go all out on this bitch.

I'm tired of dealing with 3 differen't owners wiring and mechanical work. In the next few days everything is commin off the bike. Chassis is gettin blasted and repainted, gas tank and oil tank are gettin a new finish, engine, gear box, and carb, are getting a full rebuild.

Crawlin,
As soon as my shit's together I'm down to go anytime.

I guess I'll update:

The bike still back fires like none other. I keep clogging the petcock, and I still need to wire up a battery, along with lights, and turn signals.

The oil/fuel mixture is said to be (shit, I can't remember the ratio) but around 4 oz to the gallon. It's still runnin pretty damn rich.

Can anyone chip in on what octane ratings of gas I should use?

I ran 85 the first tank with 4 oz oil per gallon and it ran fine. Real fine it blew my mind

Then some one told me the older bikes like this should use 91. Now at 91 w/ 4 oz oil per galon it keeps fouling plugs and backfireing.

By the time this bitch is street legal there'll be too much snow to ride!

adam 2 strokes like high octane, typically but who knows with this thing ( i mite of told you to run high octane not thinking). have you done a compression test? atleast pulled the carb and sprayed it out with carb cleaner? drained all the fluids?

86

I take it the bike does not have the Autolube pump on it?
I had my 400 running on a 24:1 ratio (used a Ratio-Rite) before I put an original oil pump back on it.

My 1975 DT400 calls for minimum 90 octane fuel to run "properly", but it runs good on 87 also.

As far as the backfiring (checked my Clymer manual to verify) I would check the timing or throw an in-line fuel filter to make sure your not getting any crap in the carb.
If your tank is really rusty throw some bolts and washer in there with some parts cleaner and shack it up good to remove the loose rust (works fairly well).

If you need a diagram or something pm me and I'll see if I have it (the Clymer manual cover '68-'76 250-400cc two-stroke Yamahas').
