I just started getting this error message today:

*Error*
Steam.exe (main exception): CMultiFieldBlob(pSerialized): Bad field - extends past end of blob

That's what it reads, verbatim.

Will not let me start steam, or any programs that require steam. :bawling:
Any advice?
Win 7 x64, i5 quad core, 8 gb ram,...

A quick google search led me to this forum...I did not read the fix but someone posted the same error and the second post gives an apparent fix...

I would think steam would be able to dissolve just about any blob but I guess this one is new to 64 bit OS...

Oooops...so intent on my pun that I forgot the link...

That's what I hate about "Steam" and software like it. If I can't access steam I can't play my game I just bought. Yeah I know you can run steam in offline mode, but you have to be online to set it to offline mode. If something happens to Steam forget playing your games.

Excellent. Thanks for googling it. I was too frustrated to bother earlier. Followed the instructions, looks good.
