Pressure Hose Teflon Seal Replacement

I will be replacing the steering rack in my 1999 Ranger and the teflon seals on the hoses will need to be replaced. I just replaced the pressure hose a month ago so I'd rather not replace it again. The special tool from Ford is over $100, so that's out of the question.

So, what's the best way to replace the seal without the special tool?
 
You mean the white plastic o-ring that goes onto the fittings on the end of the hoses?

What special tool are you referring to?

All I have ever done to get the new one onto the fitting to to grab a 3/8 drive ratchet extension and slide it down the extension to the fat end that would go onto the ratchet. That will stretch it slightly. Then slide it off the extension onto the fitting and get it into place.

I bet he already has the socket extension tho :icon_twisted:

I pull wrenches at a Ford dealership and i've never used those tools...might have to go digging in the tool room next time around to see if we even have them.
