Well after getting stuck the other night for 2 hours and using a come a long. I have wanted a locker for awhile but now i have a "reason" to get one. how is the Powertrax Lock-Right locker and how hard is it to install? I have a open diff in the back and now want to add a locker to it. How do the people that have a lock-right like them? I have a 8.8 31 Spline with 3.27 (inless they were changed) and 31" tires now.

I have an Aussie Locker. It's just like a Lock Right in design and installation. All you need is a feeler gauge and you can install a Lock Right. If you've got a manual, it does get a little violent in parking lots. Alot of popping the truck in neutral and pushing in the clutch to unlock the locker. Around corners with power being applied from a stop, ususally you'd burnout. But with the locker, it just hooks up and goes. Pulling away from stoplights in the rain is FUN! Other than that, I dont even notice it there. Probably the best mod i've done to my truck is the installation of the aussie.

Heads up: Aussie is only available for the 31spline 8.8...not 28. And it's only about $280 shipped compared to $350 before shipping costs for the Lock Right.

The Aussie/Lockrite lockers are OK, but I'd recommend an ARB or Detroit, especially if you have a manual transmission.

The install is mildly difficult, as it's a "tight squeeze" to get all those parts in there. But as said, anybody can do it with basic tools.

+1... I like the predictability of a selectable locker (ARB, etc.), especially if it's driven on the street, that way you know what it's going to do, and aren't surprised by it....

I was looking at the aussie and they did not have one for the ranger 8.8 31 but for the f150 in 8.8 31 Splines which is what i needed. so is the one i need the same one for the 150? I have a 10 bolt up cover to. If it will work looks like i gonna get one then. http://aussielocker.com/item.php/TM4b6779/d40d//106010/.html

i don't know if that will work but you can use the one for the explorer 31 spline axle http://aussielocker.com/item.php/TM591993/81d5/06/306008/.html

just make sure you do have a 31 spline axle before you drop $250

well after alot more research i have come to find out that i have a 28 Spline rear end and not a 31.

rats it's now gonna be $350 rather then the $250. hmmm any ideas ?

ok first off i dont want to steal this thread. with that said i want to put a locker in could someone tell me what i have for a rearend and also what gears are in it thanks. the truck is an 01 xlt with the 4.0

Open your driver's door. In the door gap should be a white sticker displaying vehicle weights and short codes. Look under "Axle Code" and post up your digits.

i did the search and found out about the tag but the previous owner of my truck ripped the tag off the inside of the door when he did his own paint job. so i was just seeing if anybody knew off hand.

Is there a tag hanging on the differential? that would tell you.
