Power Steering vs Manual Steering

I believe I read the whole PS setup (pump, lines, and box) are around 40 pounds...

I also believe with a reverse rotation water pump, a grooved pulley on said pump, you would only have an alternator, water pump, and tensioner pulley to turn, which would free up some room and really let the motor rev quicker/add power.

My thoughts exactly there waynafred, alternator only with tensioner and reverse water pump. 40 lbs of forward weight is a good reduction, will weigh my ps assembly today and post actual weight (using a bathroom scale so it will be ball park within 2 or 3 lbs)

i would go with the manual box. had it in my ranger with a sbc (ya i know mutt truck). never had a real problem with driving it every day, year round. also have manual steering in my current 87 4x4 and like it to, only problem right now is i cant find a drop pitman arm for the manual box, and the used lift kit i picked up came with a power steering drop arm. ive got all the power steering stuff (box, pump, lines, ext.), so for now its geting power till i can find a manual droped arm.

Not having power steering is a work out when you have big tires... Turning 35s at a stop is almost impossible... haha... i wouldn't trade my power steering for anything...
