I just bought a 90 Bronco II w/ 74K orig. It runs great but has a annoying whine sound which increases in pitch with the RPMs. I suspect it is the power steering pump. Fluid in it is up where it shoud be but smells burnt. Should I replace it with new power steering fluid ? What is the best way to drain all the old stuff out? My 93 F250 truck has the same noise. Hate it but I've heard worse on other older Fords.

These pumps take Type F or Dex/Merc transmission fluid. Not power steering fluid.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard you could add friction modifier, the same stuff you add in with gear oil for limited slips, that's suppose to help quiet the pump.
