Hi!
I just read the great article on this web site:

Toyota Electric Power Steering (EPS) Conversion.

My question is how do I know what setup will fit for my vehicle..? I guess a heavy vehichle need an EPS with more torque?
I intend to do an EPS conversion on my 1963 Galaxie, and wonder if that Prius EPS will manage the job? The Falcon in the article as a smaller and lighter car than my Galaxie, so is there anyone who has tried with similar vehicle?

Thanks ahead
Bjorn

I have considered the electric steering conversion on a couple of my older vehicles. There are also integral power steering swap boxes you can usually get also for the older cars and trucks. But I was always hesitant.

The old over boosted power steering on the older cars are part of their personality. You can get into a newer car or truck and have stiff very reactive steering. Or you can get in your old car and it has a very large steering wheel that you turn and turn and turn with one finger to steer this huge piece of metal on 4 wheels. To me it's a very large part of the personality of the older cars, so I have never done it.

I wouldn't think the power steering would change all that much on cars. Maybe if you compared a 70's small European car and Cadillac or something...

Galaxie 3,750 to 3,850 lbs
Prius Hybrid AWD 3,340-3,461 lbs

Really not that different. 300-500 lbs Is the weight of a couple large passengers.
