Why can't someone make an install kit that doesn't look like shit? Seriously, people spend good money to put stereo's in nice vehicles and the install kits never seem to match the fit and finish at all.

I just bought an XDM6350 from advanced auto parts a couple days ago with that online coupon thing they have. It was $99, marked down to $79 and the coupon code took off an additional $32. Has the ipod hookup, usb port, remote, detachable face, and some other stuff that I dont remember. Well worth it.

I agree, I don't like mine. The tray part is formed goofy. And it has the rough finish which does not match at all.

I'm sure someone does, did you buy the kit because it was cosmetic or because it was cheap? I'm sure there are other options.

Send it back, if you want the finish to match, why didn't you make it yourself or have a professional install it?

That's your opinion. I personally don't care if it matches my dash as long as it fits and there isn't smoke coming from behind it.

Again, if you don't like "kits" why buy them and then bitch about them?

USB FTW, that has to be the best thing they've done for car stereo since the CD. If you keep all your music digital, then that's the way to go.

I have like 20 gigs of music and probably 15 gigs of audio books on a small thumb drive that I connected to mine. No more CDs, No more keeping up with discs. It's all there and available when I want it.

Shit dude, do you work for the place that makes these, or what? To answer your question, you don't find out it doesn't fit how you want it until you've got the damn thing assembled and the stereo installed. The weight of the stereo makes it bow. And everyone's gripe is you pay good money for something, they ought to make it look like it belongs in there. If you don't care if your doesn't match, that's great. The rest of us don't. You get upset because a few of us mentioned we didn't like the looks. Just like your final statement; You like yours, so why comment on our dislike of ours?

I wonder sometimes why the radio manufacturers don't offer more 1.5 and double DIN radios.

crappy picture, but this is when it was installed in my 88 Bronco II.

I agree, it is sad how they fit.

I have tried several brands and have yet to find one that actually fits and looks halfway decent.

The screw tabs broke off the one for my Ranger, stuffing the factory mounting brackets off the stock radio in the install kit seems to be the best thing going.

Stock HU
feeding a set of ED e3.65i in the front doors
and el cheapo kenwood 6x8's in the back doors
and a Clarion DPX11500 which feeds a pair of Clarion PXW1252 in a custom box behind the drivers seat. The gain is set waaaaayyyyyyy low for now. It easily overwhelms the lack of power from the stock HU. :icon_confused:

thanks!... Ya after installing one in my last B2 and not liking it... I tried something new with this one, and it turned out nice.
