I've been putting 200hp to my 2.3L M5OD tranny for three years now, and like I said earlier it had about 200k on it then...
you'll need '87-96 for the tranny, the 2.3 was the first engine to get the M5OD in '87, rest started around '90, and in '96 or at the end of that year they got rid of the speedo cable hole in the tail housing.
the selection of trucks with these trannies isn't very limited, I'd say about 50% of the rangers in the appropriate year range came with the exact tranny you need... that's not limited... the 4x4 2.3 M5OD, now that's limited
