yes, there are 3 wires going into the connector for the drivers side coil pack, I think it's the two green wires that need to be put to ground, that'll make the computer think the coil is there and working fine...

ya, but the coils alternate which side actually fires on the compression stroke. if i just did away with one, i'd be running on 2 cylinders at a time.

why would i want 8? eliminate a coil and 4 plugs thats 6 less things to fail.

Both sides fire at the same time.

Only one side fires during engine start.

The engine will run just fine with only one side, but why would you want to do that? It will hurt economy, power, and emissions, and really serve no good purpose.shady

really it's because i've had a problem i have yet to solve, someone told me a bad set of plugs (bosch) which i have installed now were causing a lot of problems. I plan on switching over to motocraft eventually, but it would be a lot easier to just change the easier 4 to see if the plugs are actually the problem.

I know the problem lies somewhere in the ignition system. But trying to figure out which component is really giving me a major headache. Sometimes it will buck and back fire terribly. But I never get a check engine light, and it's so inconsistent and random that i can never find a fault when i go to test anything. I'm really just trying to eliminate as many possible problems as possible without going out and blowing a bunch of money changing good parts.

You should find a good independent shop.

then i wouldn't learn anything. I'm not into paying other people to work on my stuff. last time i did that the shop i took my bike to went bankrupt and I had a box full of peices which was once a complete motor. Trying to put something i didn't take apart back together was a much larger headache than it would have been if I would've just done the whole thing myself from the start.

Yes, but you do not even want to change the 8 plugs on your truck. I also mentioned a good shop.
