Filled up today. Took off the gas cap, went to insert the nozzel and noticed that there is just a hole, no flapper do-hicky that you need to push threw to insert the nozzel. Should there be one there? If so how bad is this for me? This is the first time I have noticed it, havent noticed any unsual behavior with the engine running, but the idle seems real rough, but has been even after I replaced the fuel filter on Thanksgiving.

Well let me know if I am crazy or not.

its been a while, but i seem to remember certain newer vehicles not having the little flapper.

at any rate, its just a vapor control thing, it wont hurt anything for it to be missing. any small parts that may have fallen inside the tank wont make it past the fuel pickup sock.

SO if there was a flapper there, there wouldnt be an emidiate need to drop the tank and go fishing, and should be relatively safe?

yep, it'll be fine and wont effect your drivability or anything. its just to keep fuel vapors from escaping the tank during the time between removing the cap and sticking the nozzle in.
