Moving Sucks! In 1992 I had to move in to a brand new school building during Christmas vacation. It was -55 degrees and I had 2 southern boys hired to help out. They about froze their gonads off but we got it done.
I also learned that "Everything is not an Emergency". And had one hell of a hard time trying to get Principals, Teachers and Superintendents to grasp that concept. You do what you can do and eventually, it all gets done. My fuse and tolerance level was getting short so the day I was first eligible to retire, I did.
Haha...We were getting one school remodeled, one demolished and a brand new one built. My work load was about to triple overseeing these projects so I pulled the plug and all my stress disappeared instantly.
You will get thru the move, just don't let the additional stress wear you down.
This is exactly what I go through just a different type of job. However, people think everything is an emergency...yet when you actually get some information from them it turns out that particular appliance hasn't worked in weeks or months yet for some reason they seem to think you need to get there that minute to fix it. Sure if its a refrigerator or freezer, and their only one at that we will do an emergency call. A broken dishwasher or an icemaker that doesn't make ice is NOT an emergency LOL. A dishwasher or icemaker that is leaking water and flooding your house on the other hand is an emergency LOL.
The ones I love are the calls where they bought a new appliance and want us to install it, but they want it done for free.
Huge thing here where I live is people want to be tight asses and not spend any money, so they want discounts, handouts, and everything free. Then they try to use the oh I'm friends with so and so and I reply with that's nice but its still not free.
What's the price on this appliance, or that appliance. Oh well I'll drive 30 miles because its $50 cheaper. Ok fine, but don't call us when Lowes or Home Depot charges you $150+ to deliver it to your door and not install it.
We had a guy a couple months ago that came in, wanted us to order him a new dishwasher. The boss was there and gave him a price on it, and a pretty descent discount as well. The guy says well I'll just drive to Ontario and get it, its $100 cheaper. So he sends his wife to pick it up, she gets it home we come out to install it, its still in the box. We unbox it and find a major dent in the front panel, not something you could just take the panel off and pop out, it was damaged beyond repair. She has to now drive back to Ontario which is 35 miles one way and take it back. They had to order her a new dishwasher. So 3 days later she has to drive back over there and get it. Gets it, gets it back home and its the wrong color. Finally after 4 trips they get the right dishwasher, but they've now spent several hours and a lot of gas (diesel rather) driving back and forth. All the while we had the exact dishwasher in stock. So when we went out to install it, I just couldn't stand it I said are you glad you saved $100 on that dishwasher
