so, taking my truck on an hour drive to pick up my first college transcripts (4 As and 1 B in computer programming) and i pull into the parking lot, only to realize that steam is pouring out from my engine compartment. (temp gauge was in upper half of normal) so, i let it cool down, and looked at my radiator. an no surprise, there wasnt anything. so i filled it up and drove it carefully home, filling it up with more aqua when necessary. we changed hoses hoping that was the problem.

And to my make it worse, that wasn't the problem. now i have to buy a new water pump(with no job). Ive had nothing but problems with my ranger so far...hopefully this is the last for awhile. cause if my tranny (A4LD) craps on me again, im gonna be very unhappy!

:annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:

the 3.0 is a pretty reliable motor...i would guess that you are suffering from the po's non-maintenance. hoe many miles do you have on the truck?

it has 163,xxx on it...yeah, im the second owner...from the looks of it, the original owner took care of the body (mostly) few decent rust holes. but the engine/drivetrain seems neglected.

I did find a very old 3/8 driver welded to the cross bars to hold up the gas tank...lol :icon_confused:

Maybe put some cardboard under your engine/rad at night to check for leaks...unless you can see an obvious one...like the seal on the water pump might have blown...hard to tell with these, but a good rule of thumb is to open your hood and check fluids at LEAST once a week...more if you suspect a problem (ie see a leak)...

Sometimes parts just seem to fall off your truck in a rather unorganized random way when you least need it to happen...

we got a new water pump (THANKS father!!!) so, here shortly ill be installing it, after i finish some homework....

Thank you guys.

i love my 3.0 and *Knock on wood* it hassnt gave me many problems besides Here

But other than that problem i havnt seen any leaks or other issues

well, we let the engine run, and poured water into it, until where we found what we thought was the leak....when we took the old water pump off, you could see where it was colored from the leak and water drying, and then there was a clean spot, coming down from the bottom, and thats where it was leaking out, keeping that spot "clean"
