Police Scanner?

i have one in both my pickups and in the house here in pa. I've been a firefighter for 23 years and use mine to get stuff my fire radio don't have programed in ( like the next county).

so basically, if you wanna run a scanner, better get a ham radio license

i have to ask my chief about the legality of having one in mine , the only reason is i live 3 miles from the fire hall and they no longer aknowledge when the trucks leave the hall across the pager , and we are allowed to drive to the scene so it would make more sense to know when the trucks have left the hall so i can go to the scene if need be , or know if the call is cancelled or whatnot
