please help me

Hey sorry to thread jack, but with the whole replace cables to get better mileage deal, which cables do you replace? Theres lots wires running off my battery to who knows where. Would a person replace them all? Or is there main ones or something? Hope you fix your prob!

you should only have to replace the two main cables. one should be red and the other black, both the same diameter. changing your cables out will only help if your cables are corroded thru. The other wires are for accesories, fusable links and other misc things.

why is that the solenoids ground to where its mounted??

With my Javelins, I had issues if there was rust or crap where the solenoid mounted to the inner fender. When I cleaned the area, the problems went away.

yesss the problem is fixed.see i have my spare starter so earlier i connected the wires and hit the key nothing so i assumed no power to starter..but in my frantic and stupid panic i forgot that the starter ground to the block thanks to you guys who reminded me ,my spare starter fixed the problem..man am i a happy man right now you dont even know thanks to you fellas at trs thanks gus!

Noob Alert! Noob Alert! Where do the main cables lead to? haha

Hmmm... Did you check the tightness of the cables on the terminal? I know when one or both of mine were loose they would do exactly that. Turnover slowly then be reduced to clicking, tweak of the loose cable and it was firing right up. And a Volt meter is not what you need its an amp meter to measure the cranking amps of the battery, if it has like 100 - 200 amps lower then what its rated at Its probably bad.

The red power cable should either A. like my old 84 have a short one that goes to the starter relay then one that goes directly to the starter. B. Is like my newer truck and has a cable that goes directly to the starter with a solinoid on it and a smaller one that goes to the alternator.

The black one reguardless should go to the frame and bolt and then bolt to the engine block.
