I'm leaking coolant from this part which I cannot identify. I need to go to the dealer tomorrow to get a new one. I'd like to ask the dealer if he has this part in stock than go to every dealer in the area trying to explain this thing to them.
Soooo.. This part houses the temperature sensor, a coolant hose and something else I can't recall right now. it's located behind the idle pulley. My truck is a 1999 Ford Ranger 4X4. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

pic related: this is the part

Profile says 3.0L, the rest matches the post so I'm assuming that one.

Unfortunately I'd only be guessing as to the part in questions actual name...

What motor?

Sorry,
3.0L flexfuel V6 engine

Also, opposite the threaded nipple should be another nipple which had rusted off, which is causing the leaking of fluids.

I think I may have seen this part in my ranger, but as far as the name goes I have no idea, sorry.

Is it leaking from the threads? If so add a little teflon tape and tighten.

These things crack and break off. Seen it dozens of times at work (ford dealership). I think they call it a block or something like that. Ford isn't well known for their naming of parts. It's simple to find at the dealership

yeah just tell them what goes in it and they'll have diagrams and can get you the right part

Heres your ford part number.

F77Z18599AA

They retail for about 25 dollars.

Or for about $5.00- $8.00 at the hardware store in the plumbing section, It just doesn't have that nifty ford logo and price tag on it!

I don't give a lick what I use. Some care, some don't. I just looked it up real quick for him.

Since it appears the part is already dismounted. Either take the part or print the picture and take it in the parts store/dealership/junkyard wherever you shop and ask them. If I was you Id go to the JY and give them your 25 cents for a couple of them. ohh and stop filling your radiator with well water.

Yes, this is an "elbow" otherwise called a "heater control valve". Only 1 dealership in MA had one in stock ( or so it seemed) I called 6 dealerships before I found it. It's installed now....and ti was a PITA in the snow storm
