hey guys got a problem here with my 1994 ranger 4.0 engine. The engine turns over but does not start. I have tried spraying starting fluid in the intake and still will not fire. The plugs and wires are new and i am getting spark.I have a good connection to my battery terminals. I have put a lot of time and thought into this problem and still have not found out whats going on...

did you check to see if its getting fuel? can't speak for sure regarding a 4.0 ohv but to the best of my knowledge nearly all fuel rails have a schrader valve on them. Crank the engine for a min then go under the hood locate the fuel rail and schrader valve, depress the pin in the valve with something and fuel should spray all over creation, if not, you are not getting fuel to the injectors. Fuel may also squirt out but not be at the correct pressure, the pressure for a 4.0ohv is specified in either the tech or resource section i believe. you will need a gauge to test this however.... the pressing of the valve and watching fuel spray out is just a very very basic first step diagnosis to see if fuel is even getting up to the motor.

just realized, this is in the wrong forum
