i have a 2005 FX4 not sure what gears are in it but i was reading on the 4.10 gears and all they are saying that the advantages are is that you can switch to fifth around 45-50mph and i can do that already so do i have 4.10 gears if not what are the advantages i dont really tow anything mostly just four wheel

i think in 05 all fx4 were 4.10... because that later became the level 2... i think? someone else will know/

I drive in 5th at 45-50 mph and I have 3.73's... I'm confused on your question...

Trying to guess your diff gears by your speed/shifts is crazy talk.

Check your door tag if you really want to know.

3.73's will be slightly better on fuel at highway speeds and 4.10's will have a little more torque for pulling.

ok and my question was is it better for me to get 4.10 gears even if i dont pull anything the main thing this truck is used for is trips and 4wheeling but i dunno what gears i have to begin with

It really doesn't matter... You could put 3.08 gears back there, it'd be a slug and hard to drive... It's just personal preference really... I wouldn't mind having 4.10's but I already spin at 3k rpm at 70mph so anything higher would just get annoying...

For what it would cost to change gears it probably wouldn't be worth it, but if you have stock tire size then 3:73's are probably perfect or if your have larger tires then 4:10's would be better.
